Hello from Derbyshire in the UK, I've just come across this forum while researching my current project.

It's a 1983 w123 280e, called "Cunning Plan", I'm planning to enter it in Practical Performance Car Magazine's, £999 Challenge, (here's a link: http://www.ppcmag.co.uk/999-challenge.html )
My basic plan is to strip it, lower it, fit W126 front brakes, fit 300D sway bars, oh yes... and turbocharge it.

Just thought i'd show you want i'm starting with.
this is "Cunning Plan" this afternoon at my mate's place.

A few exterior pictures.





The Engine bay(plenty of room for a turbo or 2!![Wink])



The boot (note the daylight on the rear of the arches).



The interior (soon to be gone!!)



143K on the clock(barely run in!!!)


Anyway that's all for now, I'm sure I'll have LOTS of questions to ask soon!!!

Hi, sorry it's took me so long to reply (life got in the way a bit too much!!).

I didn't get it finished in time for last years event, mainly due to having staff problems in my shop. So I ended up sharing my friends car.

I'm still getting on with Cunning Plan, I've got the interior stripped out, and all the welding done on the body. I've just got to fit the plastic windows, then it's on with the turbo conversion, and removing the sunroof.
I've also got a set of front brakes from a 560SEC to fit, to improve stopping.

My biggest headaches are,
(1) trying to get some better sway bars, to improve the handling.
(2) making the steering quicker, my thoughts are either to fit a 190E 2.5 16V steering box, or convert to rack and pinion.

Decisions, decisions...

I've got a little bit more done recently...


Here's the sunroof panel back in, after removing it from the rest of the assembly;


This is how the interior looks, now I've nearly finished stripping it;


It still needs some more out yet. (centre console, heater, etc...)

Today I've cut out the passenger front door, and cut the plastic window for it;


I've knocked the dent out as best as I can;
