i think your gonna regret that head unit, looks stuck in 1997.

Well, that was the idea, more period correct.....ish  Wink Very beefy head unit, ie real power/wattage.

did you say 2-4 subs?

Yes, maybe an isobaric setup if I use 4 12".

i hooked up my 1250w amp in my car the other day and the light comes on but i get zero sound, cant think of a damn thing wrong.

RCA'a are plugged into the correct output from back of stereo? Is it on protection mode (not sure what amp you have)?

the the rca's are plugged from the two sub HU outputs to the two rca inputs on my two channel 1250w power acoustik. i only need a 800w but thought they were way over rated so i went bigger.

i had one of my subs running off a 170w so i know the rca's were good with that amp. but the positive, neg, and rem cables are all bigger now.

Subs terminals are still wired inside the enclosure? Are you wired for 4,2 or 1 ohm ?

the subs worked with the old amp(one did) im sure theyre wired, im just running parallel like the owners manual states for two speakers, each 2-8 ohm

do subs not work in stereo configuration? if so how do you wire two subs in mono with a two channel?

the subs are 4ohm each

Are they DVC or SVC? Here are 4, 2 and 1 ohm wiring diagrams.

i think single, on the outside of the box theres only two speaker terminals. and i shouldnt have said parallel they are just wired strait, two channels-two subs.
but will the amp not work with the subs in stereo, from my logic that would reduce sound quality but i dont care i just want them to be LOUD.

Nutz, Why did you select Soundstream? Just curious.
I may be interested in the 4" if they'll fit my car.

Back in the mid 90's I had some mean Soundstream subs and amps in my car. The sound and quality was quite good. I'm not much for 'box store' brands such as Alpine, Kenwood, Rockford Fosgate, Sony, Pioneer and so on. Also more or less I don't want what everyone else runs in their automobiles.

My other favorite brands and particular items I like;

Nakamichi ( head units and home stereo receivers)
Infinity ( Kappa series components)
PPI (amps)
Orion (amps)
Earthquake (amps)
Zapco ( bad ass amps)
MB Quart (component speakers)
Polk Audio (component speakers)
Xtant (amps)
JL Audio ( W series subs)
Cerwin Vega ( subs)
Kicker (solobaric subs)
MA Audio (amps)
Mcintosh ( head unit and amps)
Boston ( component speakers)

PM me about the 4" speakers

Did a prep fit of the speakers today. I guess 4x6 was different in 1974 than today. I'll also have to bottom mount these with a spacer for the grills to clear. So much for plug and play.

All the speakers are wired to a 4 channel Kenwood amp (that will be ejected) located in the trunk. New fresh amp to replace this. Works if anyone is interested. It has 40 watts RMS per channel and is a 1998 model. Good for components but not subs. I'll practically give it away if someone here needs it. PM me.

The Sony head unit that gets aborted

Well, whomever installed the previous system hacked away a lot of meat where the speakers mount. No choice now but to fabricate a custom parcel shelf. I wouldn't mind deleting the first aid kit anyways. Will cover with marine grade vinyl in like texture parchment. Speakers sound very nice and have a positionable tweeter.

Here's what I did with my parcel a few years back on my old '76 450SE Euro. Sound was f'ing mean.

i c it was the sony, i was going to say, NOOO don't replace a Becker!  i was going to put a new pioneer system in my car from another car i sold, and and once i found out how much my becker head unit cost i decided to keep it and just use a portable cd player with a tape deck thing   Wink keep it original. o did swap out the rear speakers though.
